Tiger field testing one of the items to be sold at auction
About the Auctioneer:
Tiger’s Tale
Paul “Tiger” Baugh is a graduate of the Western College of Auctioneering in Billings Montana, one of the Nations oldest and respected auction schools since 1947 and a member of the National Auctioneers Association and the BBB.
His father “Tiger” Jess Baugh was a professional prize fighter in the 1930s. The name came from “Tiger Jack Fox”, an older African American boxer he befriended. After losing a second split decision to Champion Maxie Rosenbloom, his dad retired from the ring and became a clearing contractor, house mover and auctioneer. Growing up in Wyoming, Paul drove a tractor or rode a horse to a one room school house and frequently carried a rifle or shotgun to school. How times have changed.
“Little Tiger” also pursued a boxing career with his father as trainer. As an undefeated prospect he planned on turning pro until meeting his future wife after Tiger Jess was killed in a logging accident. Because of her, his mother and respect for other influences he decided to take a different trail. His father actually encouraged him to be a professional auctioneer, rather than a boxer. He maintains a close relationship with his stepfather in Colorado Springs who he says is one of the best, hardest working and honest men he has ever known.
As a young entrepreneur he took over “Tiger Tree Surgery & Pest Control” and raised money to buy the 5th Taco John franchise. After moving to the NW he worked as a timber cutter and high climber on the West Coast and came to Idaho with helicopter loggers in 77. After moving back and forth a couple times with a young family, the decision was made to stay in Idaho. Paul demonstrated and sold special shop equipment to farmers, loggers, ironworkers and welders for several years all over the Nation. Having a passion for aviation, he bought an airplane in Orofino and learned to fly.
He moved his family to the LC valley in 89 and operated Tiger Dust Control part time. He founded an R&D company in 96 that formulates nutritional products and beverages. BestLife International, Inc., presently private labels for several companies and Sammi’s BestTM brand products are sold online and shipped to all fifty states to a growing base of customers. www.bestlifeint.com

Tiger runs the business with Glenda his wife of 37 years. Their son Brian (former CHS and CWU starting Quarterback) helps at the auctions as does their daughter Elyshia, who runs a dance and gymnastics studio in Hermiston. Another son Luke, does sport shows selling Porta-Bote, a high performance little boat that folds up and is finishing college. The oldest son Jess owns Mountain River Outfitters in Riggins and guides fishing and whitewater trips on the Salmon and Snake Rivers. www.idahoriver.com
Tiger likes also likes football,
rodeo, fly fishing, whitewater rafting and loves to ski. Tiger plays and sings
traditional Western music, “but not very well” he says. His favorite
performers are George Straight and his friends Joni Harms and local musician
Jim Aasen, both of whom entertained at the Concert Event at the Red Barn in
Colton last October after the Auction and Barbeque. Tiger says, he would like
to “thank those who support our auctions or concert events and for the
many compliments. Our invitation is always, come get a great deal and have
a good time”.
